Arthur (Art) Berrett Ballif

Arthur (Art) Berrett Ballif, 90, left this mortal life on September 30, 2026. He was born on February 19, 1936, in Provo, Utah, the third son of Joseph F. (Jeff) Ballif and Lois Berrett. He grew up in North Ogden, Utah, where he attended elementary school and graduated from Weber High School.
Art married Anne Browning in the Salt Lake Temple in August of 1954. Together they had three children, Kirk, Kelli, and Kathi. They later divorced. He married Barbara Jean Hutchison and adopted three of her daughters, Cindy, Christine, and Karen Renee. Together they had a daughter, Susan. They later divorced. Art then moved to Santa Barbara, CA.
Art moved back to North Ogden due to health problems, where he met Karen Bull. After a brief courtship, they were married on August 2, 1980, and were sealed in the Ogden Temple by his father, Jeff Ballif, on October 1, 1982.
Following that merging of families, Art and Karen lived in Clinton, Utah, and spent winters in Washington/St. George for the past 10 years. Art and Karen served a two-year mission at Heber Valley Girls Camp, where they enjoyed many wonderful experiences. They also served as ordinance workers in the Ogden Temple.
Art was employed by Commercial Security/Key Bank for a number of years and later retired from American Express/The Boston Company.
Art was a talented piano player who could play beautifully by ear. His love of music began in his early years, where his gift for playing the piano often helped him make new friends. He continued sharing his talent with countless people throughout his life, playing the piano right up until his final days.
Some of Art’s favorite musical experiences included playing at the Ogden Temple, the St. George Temple, McKay-Dee Hospital, and at numerous weddings and funerals. He also had the privilege of playing the piano at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Music was one of many ways Art connected with others, and his talent brought joy to so many people.
He always had a love for animals and owned many dogs and horses over the years. He enjoyed time with Karen outdoors. They loved to camp, go four-wheeling and spend time at Sourdough with family and friends.
Art is survived by his wife, Karen, son Kirk (Jodi); daughters Kelli Howe (Tom Mellars), Kathi (Mike) Flanders, Susan (Jeff) Williams, Cindy (Dave) Berger, Christine Ernest, stepdaughter Shelley (Andrew) Dunbar; stepdaughter Claudia Farish; stepson John Bull; brother Neil and brother-in-law Jon Kent Draayer. He leaves a combined heritage of 22 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren.
Art was preceded in death by his parents; brother Bruce; sisters-in-law Jeanne and Sharon Ballif; former wife Anne; daughter Karen Renee Ballif; stepdaughter Becky Dodd; and stepson James Bull.
Visitation will be held on October 10, 2026, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary 3333 West 5600 South, Roy, UT. The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Brent Ballif/Lindquist Mortuary.
Interment will be held at Clinton City Cemetery.
