Larry Gibson Baker

Oct 6, 2026

Larry Gibson Baker, 90, passed away on October 4, 2026. He was born May 10, 1936, in Taylor, Utah, to Charles Farrell Baker and Ethel Virginia Gibson. As a young boy, Larry learned the value of hard work, selling popsicles around his neighborhood. He also developed a love for baseball and was a pitcher. Larry married the love of his life, Mary Lou Woodfield, on August 2, 1958. They were later sealed in the Ogden, Utah LDS Temple on March 4, 1978. Larry was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Larry worked in commercial plumbing for O&M Plumbing. He worked hard, but always found time for the things he loved. Golf was a particular passion. Even after working a full day, Larry would come home and still have the energy to play and walk 18 holes. Over the years, he celebrated an impressive nine holes-in-one. Larry also loved anything with a motor. He enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycling and boating at Lake Powell. He and Mary Lou loved traveling in their motor home and taking drives in their “little car,” with the top down and Celine Dion playing. Their favorite thing to do on their drives was to take a road they had never traveled before. Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou. He is survived by his children, Bart (Sue), Troy (Cheryle), Tracie (Scott), Kent (Nanette), and Holly; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. When asked what words of advice he would give to others, Larry said, “Live life to the fullest and do the things you love to do.” His life showed that he did just that. A graveside service will be held Friday, October 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Ben Lomond Cemetery in North Ogden, Utah. Family and friends are invited to share stories and memories of Larry on his memorial page at https://myers-mortuary.com/obituaries/larry-baker-oct-2026. Services entrusted to Myers Mortuary of Ogden.
