Ellen Flint Hinkley (1942-2026)

Ellen Flint Hinkley, 84, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, strength, memories, and the many lives she touched.
Ellen was born on March 31, 1942, in Ogden, Utah, to ElVerna and Golden Flint. She grew up with a strong spirit and a love for the simple things that made her life meaningful. On December 28, 1964, she married the love of her life, Darrel Hinkley. Their love story was one of those rare stories that seem almost too beautiful to be true. They met at the High-Hat and had known each other for only two weeks before deciding to get married, beginning a journey together that would span more than six decades.
Ellen and Darrel were blessed with three children: Trudy Lyn, Kenneth Darrel, and James Allen. Her family was the center of her world, and she took great pride in who they became and in the family that continued to grow around them. She was a devoted grandmother and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and extended family.
Ellen dedicated 32 years to Hill Air Force Base, where she worked as a scheduler before retiring. Her years of hard work and dedication were a reflection of the strength and determination she carried throughout her life.
Those who knew Ellen will remember her as a loving and strong woman with a deep appreciation for the beauty of the outdoors. Some of her happiest memories were made during summers spent camping at LaPlatta with her family.
Ellen also had a love for music and played the organ beautifully. She had a tender heart for animals and wildlife, and her love was matched by the joy she found in watching and feeding the wildlife while camping.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, ElVerna and Golden Flint; her brother, Fred Flint; and her beloved daughter, Trudy Davis.
She leaves behind her husband, Darrel; her brother, Walter (Elaine); her sons, Kenneth and James; her grandchildren: Clint (Jerry), Cydnie (Michael), and Trinity (Julien); great-grandchildren, extended family, and many friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Her life was a gift, her love was a blessing, and her memory will forever be a part of the family she loved so dearly.
Graveside services honoring Ellen’s life will be held at West Point Cemetery, 80 N 4000 W, West Point, UT 84015, on October 23, 2026, at 1 pm.
Arrangements entrusted to Aaron’s Clearfield Mortuary.
