Dorothy Hurst Gough

Oct 12, 2026

Dorothy Hurst Gough, 94 years of age, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

Dorothy was born to Fredrick William Hurst and Grace Dorothy Nielsen on March 29, 1932, in Logan Utah. She was the eldest of 4 children.

Dorothy married the love of her life, Ronald Boley Gough civilly on August 12, 1950, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, UT temple. They celebrated 60 years of marriage before her beloved husband passed away almost 15 years ago. Together they had 4 beautiful children, 14 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.

Dorothy was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she held many callings, mostly in Primary and Relief Society. She loved serving those around her and it wasn’t uncommon for her to be taking a meal into someone’s home. She devoted her life to the Gospel by loving others in a Christlike manner. She loved the Savior with all her heart and taught of him by example to her children and grandchildren.

Dorothy loved working alongside her husband in the vegetable garden and reaping the rewards by canning the most delicious fruits, vegetables, jams and jellies. She also had a knack for growing a very beautiful garden and growing the most beautiful peonies. She also loved to crochet, and she made gorgeous afghans, hats, scarves, and the cutest little toys for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and made sure to do the one out of the paper every day. But mostly, she loved being around her children and grandchildren. Each one felt like they were her favorite because she made each one feel that way. Her family meant everything to her. She loved her siblings and her nieces and nephews as well. They were a big part of her life. And there are many others who were not blood-related but were important to her and also considered family. That was just the loving person she was.

Dorothy was the best daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be sorely missed. We are grateful to know that families are forever and that we will see her again. We all look forward to that special reunion.

At the time of Dorothy’s passing she lived at Seasons Assisted Living where she was being cared for by the wonderful aides there. She loved them so much and they commented many times how much they loved her too. We are so grateful to them for the love and care they gave her. We are also grateful for her hospice nurse, Trevor, and hospice aide, Consuela, who took such great care of her as well. They devoted so much time to make sure she was well cared for.

Surviving are her sons, Bill Gough (Lanel) in Plain City, Russ Gough (Debbie) in Plain City, and one daughter, Linda Haycock (Blaine), Farr West. She is also survived by 1 sister, Tammy Singleton (Rick), Pleasant View.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 brother, 1 sister, 1 daughter, and 4 grandchildren.
