Donald graduated from Davis High School in 1962 then joined the US Army on 12/20/1963. He served most of his time in Europe, including Verdun, France, where he served in the Military Police (MP). He was honorably discharged on 12/19/1969 with a good conduct medal and a national defense service medal.
He then drove trucks for several years at Valley Beverage then later at Cowboy Oil. He was known then by his CB handle (Happy Hank) and even sometimes called the Singing Trucker for his frequently requested midnight serenades on the CB during long, lonely nighttime runs.
When family needs made it necessary he came off the road and joined the civil service. First at Dugway Proving Grounds then Tooele Army Depot and finally at Hill Airforce Base where he eventually retired.
In 1967 he married Bonnie Ashdown of Cedar City and they had 2 children. Robert (Rae) Henry – Enoch, Ut and Donna (Lane) Montgomery – Enoch, Ut. They were later divorced.
On October 12, 1974, he married Judy Mortensen and they had 1 child. Becky Henry – Clearfield, UT. They remained married until Judy passed in 2003.
In 2004 he met Marie K Morales and they were loving partners until her passing in 2021.
In his later years he was a great neighbor, neighborhood handyman and honorary grandpa to those who lived around him. He was known by all for his quick, though sometimes shocking wit and he knew how to make people laugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Judy, his longtime companion Marie, 3 older sisters and his next younger sister.
He is survived by his 3 children: Robert (Rae) Henry – Enoch, Ut. Donna (Lane) Montgomery – Enoch, Ut. And Becky Henry – Clearfield, Ut.
5 grandchildren: Bonnie Allred, Tyler Hunt, Tristyn Montgomery, Shaylee Kerber (Jared) and Nichole Henry. Plus 6 Great Grandchildren.
His 2 youngest sisters: Myra (Jim) Harned – Farmington, Ut. And Lynda K (Ron) Swan – Syracuse, Ut.
Bob and I thank our sister Becky for all the comfort and loving care she gave our daddy over the last four years.
