Frederick Chavez

Oct 21, 2026

Frederick Chavez, an amazing, FUNNY, generous and loving man, passed away peacefully at home from progressive heart issues in Farr West, Utah at the age of 70.

Born on November 30, 1955, in Ogden, Utah, Fred is the beloved son of the late Benny J. Chavez and Vernie L. Vallez. His life was filled with family, friends, music, love and laughter!

He is preceded in death by his parents; and survived by those who will carry forward his legacy. Frederick leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Connie Chavez; his daughter, Tennielle Chavez; and his son, Freddie Chavez. Fred was blessed with three grandchildren, Madeline (Tony), Olivia (Kaden), Tyler, and one great-grandson, Miles, each of whom added immense joy to his life.

Fred was a proud graduate of Roy High School and attended Weber State University where he met Consuelo (Connie) Lopez. Connie was the beans to Fred’s tortilla. They married in March of 1975. Fred enlisted in the Air Force where his training led to a career as a Master Dental ceramist. He was stationed at Wichita Falls, Texas and Spokane, Washington, later moving to Cheyenne, Wyoming. He eventually landed back in Ogden, Utah, his family home.

Fred and Connie together want to express the great love they have for their daughter, son, grandchildren, friends and family, which includes every individual of their Red Butte Concert family, with whom they created strong bonds over the years.
