Joseph Cornell Lundwall

Oct 23, 2026

Joseph Cornell Lundwall quietly slipped from mortality and was reunited with his beloved wife, Faye, on October 20, 2026.

Joseph was born on March 23, 1936, to Minnie Mae Knight and Nels Benjamin Lundwall. He had one sibling, Florence Wolters, who passed away in April of this year.

He was sealed to Faye Miller in the Salt Lake City Temple on November 21 1958. He is the father of seven children, Jolynn (Watson), Daniel Joseph, Stephen Lewis, James Rodney, John Knight, Lisa, and Lori (Linford). He has 31 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren.

Joe served as a missionary in the Northern States Mission and upon his return did his undergraduate work at the University of Utah, receiving a degree in accounting. He was particularly proud of having been a member of the U of U freshman basketball team. Despite his degree in accounting, Joseph decided to become a seminary teacher. He also received a masters degree from Brigham Young University. He was a devout Cougar.

Joe loved to teach. Professionally, he was a CES instructor for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 42 years. He taught seminary in Salt Lake City, was a home study seminary coordinator in Kentucky and Pennsylvania, and taught at the Weber State Institute of Religion in Ogden, Utah, until he retired.

He served a mission with his wife, Faye, in Hawaii, teaching institute at Brigham Young University-Hawaii, and also serving in the Polynesian Cultural Center. He held many callings in the Church, but his favorite was that of being a temple worker in the Ogden Temple.

Joe was passionate about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He loved to study the gospel and he loved to both speak and write about it. He was proud of the books his father compiled, and he himself authored a book on prayer.

Joseph was a long time resident of North Ogden, but the last year of his life he spent in the Our House Assisted Living facility in Tooele, Utah. Joseph’s children are very grateful for the loving care he received there as his physical and mental health declined due to dementia.

Services will be at 250 W Elberta Drive in Pleasant View, Utah, on October 29. The viewing will be from 10:00 to 10:45 AM, followed by the funeral. Joseph will be interred next to his wife, Faye, in the North Ogden City Cemetery.

Friends and family are invited to share photos and stories of Joseph on his memorial page at myers-mortuary.com/obituaries/joseph-lundwall.
