Frances May Warner Fielding
1930 — 2026
Frances (Fran) May Warner Fielding passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at the age of 96, from a short and sudden illness. Frances was born May 2, 1930, in Ogden Utah, to James and Frances Warner. She is the oldest of four children. She often played the role of an adult at a young age while her mother was bed and wheelchair ridden. She looked after her younger siblings, taking them to church every Sunday. She was very active and deeply faithful in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with that being her priority in life. She was very knowledgeable in the gospel at a young age.
She attended Ogden High School and Weber State College where she was President of her Sorority and participated in the school choir.
While having a fun personality, she took things seriously, like her education, career, finances, family, and home. She excelled scholastically and enjoyed lifelong learning. She was frugal, yet very particular in everything she wore, designed, taught, cleaned, and cooked.
She met her husband, Dee Fielding, in a passing car, in downtown Ogden. After encouraging Dee to serve a mission for the LDS Church in California, she worked and saved for their eventual wedding, two days after his return. It was their commitment, testimony, and faith that was the foundation of their family. She was an amazing example for her children to follow gospel standards. She created a family of missionary service, five of their children served missions. Many grandchildren have served and now their first and oldest great-grandchild is currently serving. Frances and Dee served three missions, in the New York Rochester Mission as senior missionaries, eight years at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, and as instructors at the Missionary Training Center in Provo. The family is planning on celebrating what would have been their 75th wedding anniversary at the reopening tour of the Salt Lake City Temple, on the day and place where they were married.
She is survived by her six children who have been blessed by her love and years of motherhood. Doug (Bonnie) of Mesa, Arizona, Rod of Lehi, Utah , Rick (Denise) of Holladay, Utah, Connie of Salt Lake City, Utah, Scott (April) of Sandy, Utah and Shauna Romine (Joe) of Highland, Utah.
She has been blessed with a large posterity including 25 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren, that brought her great joy.
Frances and Dee raised their family in Layton, Utah. After serving their mission in New York, they started a new phase of life in Lehi, Utah, and lived there for the last 25 years, in order to be closer to family. Deep friendships were made in their new senior neighborhood with people who have been very dear to them.
Fran was talented, hardworking, creative, and resourceful, so much so, that she won many awards for her children’s school projects. She could quickly come up with any costume, poster, or presentation. She was also an excellent cook and baker. She was bright and sharp right up until the end of her long life, while living on her own.
Fran had impressive careers, especially when working as the Commanders personal assistant at the 388th Fighter Wing/F-16s at Hill Air Force Base. She passed on work-ethics and business skills to her children that they learned from.
She loved to do puzzles, play games, talk on the phone, paint, watch game shows, bake, and was known by her grandchildren for her sweet tooth. She always told her family that she was a treat girl and she really was.
Fran was Dutch stubborn, tough, and that is how she lived her life and got through any rough patches that came her way. She loved her tulips and celebrated her 100% Dutch heritage.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dee, sister Beverly Hepworth, brother Gene Warner and her grandson Tanner.
