Richard Dean Post, 75, passed away after battling a long-term illness on September 4, 2026 in Layton, UT. Dean was born on April 3, 1951 in Ogden, Utah to the late Helen B. Nye and Jacob Post, Jr. Dean grew up in the Ogden Utah area attending Mound Fort Junior High and Ben Lomond High School. Dean married his wife of 46 years, Karen M. Keller, on December 22, 1971. Karen passed away in May 2018. their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple on November 17, 1989. Dean was a member of the Oak Ridge Ward in Layton for over 15 years, prior to that, he had been an active member of the Wilson II Ward in West Haven for over 20 years.

Dean and Karen raised four children in West Haven, UT. Dean was a journeyman electrician and retired from Myriad Genetics in 2017. Dean enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and exploring Utah’s beautiful wilderness.

Dean is preceded in death by his parents, wife, six brothers (Clayton Bowman, Dennis Bowman, Darryl Bowman, Delbert Post, J. Douglas (Randell Sue) Post, Donald Post) and two sisters (Connie (James) Moss and Marilee (Andy) Anderson).

Dean is survived by one sister, Juleen (Dennis) Moss and his four children: Nanette (Robert) Lallish, Nikole (Collin) Smith, Jed Morgan Post, and Deana (Johnathan) Shiverdecker. He was blessed with ten grandchildren (Eelje, Ryan, Morgan, Cameron, David, Amadeus, Audree, Xavier, Alicia, and Oliver) and three great grandchildren (Kairi, Jahseh, and Athena).

The family wishes to give special thanks to the staff at Fairfield Assisted Living and Inspiration Hospice for the loving care of Dean.

In lieu of a funeral, Dean’s family will hold a celebration of life and graveside service at a later time. Please send condolences to Dean’s daughter, Nikole Smith, at 1820 S. Franklin St., Seaside, OR, 97138.
