Layton, Utah formerly from Normal, Illinois

Howard Thomas Davis passed away September 15, 2026, at home after several health issues, especially Alzheimer’s and heart problems. He was 91 years old.

He was born in Pekin, Illinois to Harry and Lucille Davis. They later moved to Tremont, Illinois where he grew up. He attended Illinois State University for one year and then enlisted in the Army in 1954. He served during the Korean War but was sent to Landes DeBussac France. Upon being discharged from the Army in 1956 he enrolled in Illinois State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1959. He went on to get a Master of Science degree in 1961 at the same university. In 1965

He received a second Master of Science degree at Illinois Wesleyan University all in Bloomington- Normal Illinois. He taught school in McLean County Unit 5 and later became Asst. Superintendent of Curriculum. He retired in 1994.

On August 19, 1956, he married Genevieve Eileen Davis. They have two sons, Kevin Lee Davis and Jeffrey Lynn Davis. And lived in Normal, Illinois. In 2012 they moved to Layton, Utah where he resided until his death.

He is survived by his wife Genevieve and two sons Kevin and Jeffrey. Also four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Saturday September 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, Layton, Utah. Friends may visit with family prior to services from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd. Layton, Utah.

The family extends their gratitude to Symbii Home Health and Hospice. Especially Jamie, his physical therapist, and also the nurses that took care of him.
