Carol Jean Jacobs Simonsen
Carol Jean Jacobs Simonsen, 90, died September 19, 2026, of heart failure. She was born December 20, 1935, in Ogden, Utah, to Eldred Madsen and Edith Elizabeth Grundy Jacobs. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Charles “Bud” Johnson.
Carol graduated from Ogden High School in 1953. She married Lee Simonsen on October 8, 1955. They raised six children and later divorced.
Carol worked as a secretary for finance companies as well as Ogden City School District, retiring after 20 years. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
She is survived by her children, Brett (Lori) Simonsen, Jace (Tracey) Simonsen, Sue (Shane) Walton, Shauna (Brad) Jensen, Brandon (Amy) Simonsen, and Eric (Connie) Simonsen; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and her sister, Bonnie Jensen.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather; two grandsons; brother, Gerald (Carma) Jacobs; and sisters, Lillian (Elwyn) Walker and Shirley (Andrew) Frecker.
A viewing will be held at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Bonneville Shoreline Ward, 1550 Rushton St., with a viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will be at the Ogden Cemetery.
