Jan’s beauty radiated from the depths of her soul to the outside of her being. She looked for and saw the “best in others”–even if that “best” was hard to find. She made everyone feel important. When she heard of someone’s struggles, she merely tucked the thoughts in her heart and looked for ways to ease their burdens.

Jan had a keen memory and was the ‘angel sent from heaven’ to watch over her family, extended family, friends, neighbors, and Primary children, remembering them on birthdays, holidays and special occasions. She possessed a great generosity of spirit and was quick to serve others with telephone calls, cards, remembrances, gifts, attendance at special occasions and visits to the hospital offering comfort and hope. Her life was focused on the people she fondly and faithfully served. She literally “gave herself away.”

Jan would go anywhere, do anything, at any hour, on any day, for any reason, for anybody. She was ‘on-call’ 24/7. She was tireless in her service to others and never sought attention or recognition for her kind deeds.

Jan attended Layton High School and after graduating, served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Montana/Wyoming Mission. When she returned from her mission Jan attended Steven-Henager’s Business College.

Little children were Jan’s great love. She taught the 3-4-year-old Sunbeam Class at Church for over 50 years. She also worked at Humpty Dumpty Haven and other Day Care facilities for many years. Jan loved the Temple and dedicated her life to service within its walls. She served in the Ogden Temple for approximately 28 years; the Bountiful Temple for 11 years and the Layton Temple for 2 1/2 years. Psalms 27:4 describes her perfectly.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Betty Lou Willey, her brother, Jay Wayne Willey and her sister-in-law, Janet Peterson Willey (Jerry).

She will be lovingly remembered by her siblings: LouAnn Willey Helquist (Val); Jerry Willey; Dixien Willey Call (Larry) and Richard Jay Willey (Colleen). Her memory will be forever treasured by her many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Layton 6th Ward Chapel located at 1402 N. Fort Lane, Layton, Utah. Family and friends may visit Tuesday night, September 29, 2026 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah and on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the Layton 6th Ward Chapel prior to the service.

Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery, next to her beloved parents.
