Morgan couple celebrates 70 years

Ralph S. and Fern P. Carter of Morgan will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary today, Dec. 13. Their family will honor them on Dec. 26.?They were married on Dec. 13, 1939, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple. ?Both have lived in Morgan all their lives.?Born on Aug. 27, 1917, he graduated from Morgan High School, attended Utah State University, and received a degree in mathematics from Weber University. He has been a dairy farmer most of his life. In later years, he taught mathematics at Morgan High School. He has served in many positions in the LDS Church, including bishop for six years.?Born on April 6, 1921, she graduated from Morgan High School. She has been a homemaker and worked as a librarian and clerk for Morgan County. She too has served in many positions in the LDS Church.?They served together in the Pennsylvania Harrisburg LDS Mission from 1989 to 1990.?Their nine children and their spouses are Paul and Vanna Carter, Vaughn and Carolee Carter, Shirley and Carl Dearden, Frank and Carla Carter, Paul and Julie Johnson, Bob and Elaine Barton, Randy and RaNae Stevenson, Lee and Jeannie Carter, and Michael and Lisa Kelly.?They have 44 grandchildren and 85 great-grandchildren. They also have one great-great-grandson.
