DeRell “Nick” Jones and Carolyn Kay Hunting will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. An open house will be held in their honor from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Weber North Stake Center, 4100 W. 900 South, West Weber. No gifts.?They were married on Jan. 1, 1960.?They graduated from Weber High School and attended Weber State College.?Their two children are Margie and Jeff Powars, and Jedd DeRell Jones. Their five grandchildren are Michael Jefferson Powars, Morgan Ann Jones, Riley Jedd Jones, Cooper Nicholas Jones and Bradi Jones.?Their family lives nearby so they are able to spend much time with them. He was a basketball official for 35 years, officiating throughout the state.?They have enjoyed playing and watching their children and their grandchildren in sports activities.?He still plays tennis whenever he can. They now enjoy jeeping, four-wheeling, bicycling, traveling, cruising, gardening and church service.?He served in a bishopric and nearly 14 years on the high council. She has served in many positions, including twice as Relief Society president. Currently they serve as guest service missionaries at Temple Square and the Conference Center.
