Loa Jean Whitesides Gast of Layton will celebrate her 80th birthday.?She was born on Aug. 23, 1929, in Ogden to Myron and Eva Whitesides.?She married Herbert E. Gast on Jan. 4, 1951, in Ogden.?They traveled extensively around the United States and Europe. They made their home in Layton after he retired from the U.S. Air Force.?She is an avid reader who enjoys crossword puzzles and trips to Wendover. Her children and their spouses are David and Debbie Gast, Valerie Hampton, Lisa Clark, and Merideth and Richard Martinez.?She has 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
