Leonard L. Woodward of Riverdale celebrated his 80th birthday on Sept. 23.?The seventh of nine children, he was born on Sept. 23, 1929, to Benjamin and Enga Hansen Woodward in Filer, Idaho.?The family later moved to Grantsville, where he graduated from high school. After graduating he moved to Ogden and served two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.?Upon his return from the military, he worked at Standard Oil Service stations. In a short time, he was made a manager. He later was employed in the optical alignments department for 27 years at Hill Air Force Base.?His interests include small engines and building an airplane that he flew for more than two years. On some flights, he visited his brother in Elko, Nev.?He has two sons: Kenneth Woodward and Jerry Woodward. He also has two granddaughters and six great-grandchildren.?He enjoys helping family, friends and neighbors. He and his wife enjoy traveling.
