Verna Bybee Rollins of Mountain Green celebrated her 90th birthday at a family party. ?The eighth of 10 children, she was born at home in Uintah on Jan. 4, 1920, to Robert Oscar and Mary Elizabeth Goodwin Bybee. She grew up in Weber County and graduated from Morgan High School. ?She married Harold B. Rollins on Dec. 5, 1941, in Malad, Idaho. Their vows were solemnized in

Salt Lake Temple in 1951. They owned and operated the family farm and a trucking company. He died on April 9, 1999.?She enjoyed roller skating and dancing at the Berthana Ballroom in Ogden and was a majorette for the Union Pacific Band. Her interests are making pies and cinnamon rolls and sewing and crocheting. She sewed many of her daughters’ dresses, school uniforms and two of their wedding dresses. She enjoys music, singing and writing poetry. ?She was president of the PTA when Morgan County began the kindergarten program and has been cochairman of the Republican Party in Morgan. Previous employers are Union Pacific Laundry, S.H. Kress & Co., J.C. Penney, ZCMI in Ogden, Johnson Cleaners, Rose Store in Morgan, The Wheel Café and Browning Arms in Mountain Green. Before she was married, she was employed by Dr. Joseph and Jeannette McKay Morrell, sister of LDS President David O. McKay.?Her children are Lana Walters, Lynette and Earl Patterson, and Patti and Gary Malmrose. She has seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
