Lillian W. Ellis will celebrate her 90th birthday.?She was born on March 15, 1920, a member of the Northwestern Band of Shoshone Nation, the only child of Juanita Perdash and Warren Wongan. Raised and educated in Box Elder County, she graduated from Bear River High School. Moving to Ogden during World War II, she worked at the Ogden Arsenal and Hill Air Force Base. From 1945 to 1947, she went on temporary duty to Hawaii to help rebuild Hickam Air Field. Returning to Utah, she was furloughed, then attended and graduated from cosmetology school.?She married Jack Ellis in 1949. They later separated.?Returning to federal civil service at Defense Depot Ogden, she completed her career, retiring in 1985.?Her children are Ivan and Reina Wongan, Susan Caldera, Shirley Martinez (deceased), Sylvia and Al Ramirez, Randy Ellis and Jeff Ellis (deceased). She has eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.?She enjoys her family, the Utah Jazz, trips to Wendover, Nev., reading, working puzzles, Elvis Presley and George Strait, in that order.
