Virgie and Bob Arnold of Layton will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with an open house planned by their children from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 22 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chelemes Chapel, 1245 S. 1175 East, Clearfield.?They were married on Jan. 27, 1951, in Preston, Idaho. Their vows were later solemnized in the London England LDS Temple.?He was born in Fairbury, Ill., on Feb. 27, 1930, the son of Charles J. and Irene Arnold. He retired from the U.S. Air Force and Hill Air Force Base. He is presently employed as a volunteer at Hill Aerospace Museum.?She was born in Ogden on Jan. 24, 1933, the daughter of Myron D. and Eve R. Whitesides of Layton. She retired from HAFB in 1990. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service and has been employed in many areas of the world. ?Both have held positions in branch, district and mission service of the LDS Church.?He is presently a counselor in the high priests group in the Chelemes LDS Ward. They have been active in the Boy Scout program for more than 50 years each. Both are Woodbadge trained and recipients of the Silver Beaver Award. ?They have four children: Dan Arnold, Julia Armga, Reed Arnold and Suzan Packham. They have 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
