Robert Walker Frew celebrated his 80th birthday with family and friends on Saturday. ?He was born March 22, 1931, in Ogden to Laura P. Walker and Russell B. Frew. He is the youngest of seven in a close family. He attended Roy, Wilson and Hooper elementary schools, Wahlquist Junior High School, and Weber High School. His favorite subject was music, where he played the trumpet and guitar. While attending school, he worked at a bowling alley setting up bowling pins. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1949. During his service, he was able to travel the world from San Diego to Korea. He was in the Chosen Reservoir Campaign during the Korean War. ?He married Sandra Spencer on Aug. 29, 1969. Their two children and spouses are Amy and Craig Jensen, and Chad Frew, all of Syracuse. His six grandchildren are Nekane Jensen, Eric Jensen, Zach Jensen, Aubrey Jensen, Kloe Frew, and Luke Frew. He also has a stepdaughter Sherrilee Marvel.?He has lived an active life with employment taking him all over the country. He has worked on heavy equipment building roads and helped build Willard Bay. He also worked in a copper mine, hauled cotton seed, and worked on a reservoir in Texas. In 1963, he worked for the Weber County Road Department, moved away for a while, and eventually retired from Weber County in 1995 after 30 years.
