Beth Hokanson Kendell of Ogden will celebrate her 85th birthday with an open house hosted by her family. Friends and family may greet her from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Memorial Park chapel, 3755 Porter Ave., Ogden.?She was born on April 12, 1926. She is the first of five children of Archibald Olaf and Leona Adena Stoker Hokanson. The family lived in Ogden, and owned and operated the Ogden Egg Co., where she worked for 20 years. She graduated from Ogden High School and later served as a missionary to the Great Lakes.?On Feb. 20, 1952, she married Fred H. Kendell in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Her six children are Sharon and Dennis Leak, Carma and Kim Ferrell, Colleen and Richard Willey, Fred and Karen Kendell, Denise and Todd Johnson, and DeAnn and Ron Mayhew. She has 32 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.?She has been active in the LDS Church and has served as Sunday School, Primary and Relief Society president, and as a teacher and music chorister in all of these organizations. She has been a visiting teacher for 53 years.?She enjoys reading, family dinners, parties, and especially hearing about the lives of her children and grandchildren. She says she loves life and cherishes her experiences with all her family and friends.
