Clifford James Marker of North Ogden will celebrate his 90th birthday on Oct. 13. His children will host an open house in his honor for family and friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 15 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints church house Relief Society room, 205 E. Elberta Drive, North Ogden. Light refreshments will be served. No gifts. His wife, Mary P. Marker, will also be honored for her 90th birthday at the celebration.?They were married in January 1946 and have been lifelong residents of North Ogden and raised their children there.?He was born on Oct. 13, 1921.?Their children are J. Dale and Tina Marker, David Marker, Douglas Marker (deceased), Ellen and Howard Holt, Kathleen Brown, Audrey and (Steve deceased) Larsen, and Debra and Keith Warden. He has 24 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren.?He enjoys spending time with his family and has been supportive of activities and special occasions involving them.?He worked most of his career as a surveyor for Great Basin Mapping & Surveying in Ogden, retiring in 1985. He has enjoyed being outdoors, growing a vegetable garden every year, and has walked several miles almost daily until recently. ?He and his wife have been active members of the LDS Church. They served in the New Zealand LDS Temple from 1991 to 1993 and an inner-city LDS mission in Utah for 18 months. They were also ordinance workers in the Ogden LDS Temple and have enjoyed singing in the ward choir for many years.
