Allen C. Burt of Ogden celebrated his 90th birthday on Saturday, Oct. 15, at a family Halloween party. ?He was born Oct. 16, 1921, in Brigham City, the oldest son of Hilda A. and J. Cale Burt.?He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the South Pacific. While recuperating in the military hospital from malaria, he received a personal visit and autograph from Bob Hope.?He met Lois Allred at the Berthana Roller Rink and they’ve been going around together ever since. They were married on Aug. 15, 1943, while he was stationed in Santa Anna, Calif. Their vows were solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple two months later while on leave. They just celebrated their 68th anniversary.?He worked as a route salesman for Cream ‘O Weber Dairy, a sales manager for Pepsi Cola, and a traveling salesman for J.G. Read and Brothers Wholesale. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and photography. He has been a member of the Desert Rats Club a good share of his life, hiking and exploring parts of Utah and Colorado. He and his wife were members of the Variana’s Dance Club for many years. He still enjoys a good game of Dominoes or Rummy Cube.?Along with his callings in the LDS Church, he spent numerous years feeding the local missionaries and giving them a ride whenever they needed one.?His children and spouses are Steve A. and Julie Burt, Linda and Jeffrey L. Smith, and John R. Burt. He and his wife enjoy 14 grandchildren and spouses, and 42 great-grandchildren.
