Ogden couple celebrates ?70th anniversary?

Wayne and Emogene Clayson celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary concurrently with his 90th birthday at a luncheon hosted by their children at Maddox Ranch House Restaurant. Many family members came together from various parts of the country to celebrate this occasion.?They were married Aug. 31, 1941, in Yuma, Ariz. Their vows were solemnized a year later in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple.?He was born July 31, 1921, in Payson. He graduated from Payson High School and attended Brigham Young University, where he was active in band as a trumpet player. He also toured with a dance band, the Night Hawks.?He served in the European Theater during World War II. After he returned home, he worked at the Daily Herald in Provo and later with the U.S. Postal Transportation Service, retiring from the Ogden post office.?She was born May 30, 1922, in Salmon, Idaho. She moved to Santaquin when she was 3 years old. She graduated from Payson High School and attended BYU. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Ogden, retiring after 20 years.?They have enjoyed spending their winters in Yuma and Mesquite. They have traveled extensively with family and friends. One of their favorite places is attending the annual Sun Valley Dixieland Jazz Festival.?They enjoy being with their family of three daughters, 17 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren. Their children and spouses are Sandra and Mark Arner, Colleen and Steve Arner, and Jan and Richard Burton.
