Alvera Olsen White of Harrisville, formerly of Brigham City, will be honored at an open house to celebrate her 90th birthday. Friends and relatives may attend the event hosted by her friends of Brigham City from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 26 at the home of Clark and Susan Andersen, 190 W. 1500 North, Brigham City. No gifts.?She was born Sept. 26, 1921, in Holbrook, Idaho, to Andrew Anderson Olsen and Harriett Ann Wickham. She moved to Brigham City in a covered wagon with her family at age 7. Her family never owned a car, and instead used horses to get around town. One of her chores as a young girl was to take her little red wagon into town to get a block of ice for the ice box. Today she is a representative of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.?She married Robert “Bob” Joseph White on May 1, 1937. Their vows were later solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple. He died in October 1985.?Her children and spouses are Beverley W. Ewing, Harrisville; Dallas R. and Suzanne White, Sam Ramon, Calif.; and Randy D. White, Hyrum.?She is an active member of the LDS Church and has fulfilled many callings throughout her life. She says she has stayed 90 years “young” by keeping many dear associations with friends, traveling, baking (especially peanut brittle), and most important, finding daily joy in
her family.
