Thursday’s performance with The Shins marks Ogden Twilight’s first sold out concert
Indie rock band The Shins will perform at the 2017 Ogden Twilight concert series.

OGDEN — If you were hoping to get tickets at the door of Thursday’s Ogden Twilight concert, you’re out of luck.
Tickets for The Shins, an indie rock band from New Mexico, sold out Tuesday night, making it the first sold out show in the summer concert series’ history. Maximum capacity at the Ogden Amphitheater for Ogden Twilight is 7,500 people.
“I feel like it’s a good milestone for us,” Twilight co-founder Jared Allen said of selling out. “Hopefully it’ll give us something to build on for next year too.”
The Shins formed in 1996 and made more waves with their single “New Slang” in “Garden State,” released in 2004. The band released its first album in 5 years in March. Tickets for The Shins were $10 versus Twilight’s normal $5 price for general admission — a price increase Allen said organizers weren’t sure concert-goers would jump at.
“We didn’t know how it would be received. But if we get the right artist, it’s definitely viable,” Allen said, adding that next year, the series may reach out to other booking agencies for a bigger range of artists.
Thursday marks the fourth concert in a highly successful summer for the Ogden Twilight series. Alternative rock band OK Go had an audience of 5,000 on June 8, while Louis the Child & Troyboi brought in about 4,000 people June 15. Oh Land had a crowd of 3,000 on June 1 to kick off the series.
“I feel like it’s gone really well,” Allen said. “The Ogden Amphitheater has made leaps and bounds in terms of their lighting, their sounds, how they’re able to accommodate the artists. …I feel like everything has been pretty easy for the guests.”
Pure Bathing Culture will open Thursday’s concert at 7 p.m., with The Shins taking the stage at 8:30 p.m.
Tickets are still available for Twilight’s last concert on June 29, with headliner Swedish electro-pop trio, Miike Snow, and with special guest Klangstof, a Dutch/Norwegian rock band.
Tickets can be purchased online at 24tix.com or at all Graywhale Entertainment locations and Lavender Vinyl in Ogden. Tickets also can be used for rides on Utah Transit Authority trains and FrontRunner the night of the show.
