Live music in Northern Utah: Drum circle, unique instruments and cover bands

This week’s live music in Northern Utah includes a drum circle, unique instruments from other countries and a Southern-fried cover band.

Friday, May 5

Bar J Wranglers — The Bar J Wranglers will entertain the entire family as they take you down memory trail with songs, stories, comedy, yodeling, fiddling and more. Some folks call it a western music show, some call it a stand-up comedy show with masterful cowboy music and others call it the best musical experience in the west. Call it what you want, the fact remains The Bar J Wranglers from Jackson Hole, Wyoming, deliver some of the purest harmony, best musicianship and funniest ranch humor. 7-10 p.m., Val A. Drum Circle — Join a growing drum circle run by Vinnie Shutt. Bring a drum if you have one. A few extra drums are available. Bang a drum or experience the sound and vibrations. 6-7 p.m., The Hidden Sage, 1661 N. Main St., Sunset. FREE

Saturday, May 6

Spring Concert — The New American Philharmonic presents its spring concert under the direction of Shannon Roberts. The concert features five shorter selections from composers from five different countries: Gioacchino Rossini (Italy), Johann Strauss Jr. (Austria), Peter Tchaikovsky (Russia), Georges Bizet (France) and Aaron Copeland (United States). 7:30 p.m., Val A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts, 1901 University Circle, Ogden. FREE.

Bill n Diane — After a great response, this duo returns with their unique take on a wide range of material. 7-8:30 p.m., Harp and Hound, 2550 Washington Blvd, Ogden. FREE

Mullet Hatchet — The original Southern-Fried rock show. Straight from Kentuckissippi, these hillbillies bring all your daddy’s redneck favorites to life: Allman Brothers, Doobie Brothers, ZZ Top and so many more the band couldn’t count (they ain’t no good at math anyway). It’s like Hee-Haw with guitars! 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., Brewski’s, 244 25th St., Ogden. 

Blazin’ Aces — Logan-based band plays old school favorites. 9 p.m. to midnight, Lighthouse Lounge, 130 25th St., Ogden. $5. 

Monday, May 8

WSU Alumni Singers — Founded in 2002, this eclectic choir features Weber State University alumni that love to share the joy of song. This family-friendly concert is sure to entertain Wildcats of all ages with songs that celebrate the beauty of springtime. 7:30-9:30 p.m., Holy Family Catholic Church, 1100 E. 5550 South, South Ogden. 

Tuesday, May 9

Lisa Lynne and Aryeh Frankfurter: Celtic Harps, Rare Instruments and Stories — Lisa Lynne and Aryeh Frankfurter are a multi-instrumentalist duo with Celtic Harps, Swedish Nyckelharpa, Ukrainian Bandura, Irish Bouzouki, Cittern and more. Audiences are spellbound and enchanted with their unique show of breathtaking music both traditional and original, with wondrous stories and humor entwined. 7-9 p.m., Trinity Presbyterian Church, 140 N.
