Ogdenites have a rare opportunity to see this famous podcaster speak about storytelling in the age of technology at Weber State on Monday.

Weber State University hosts the inaugural “WeberStock,” a rockin’ five-hour fest full of live music on two stages, food trucks, games and swag to celebrate the year’s end. Local musicians from indie rock to hip hop are on the lineup: Compass Rose, Caden Holmes, The Button Ups, future.exboyfriend, Imag!nary Friendz, RIPCOYOTE, Sweet Tangerine and more. Part of the foodie fun includes “WoodSticks,” food on a stick such as corn dogs, roasted corn, caramel apples, cheese and churros. Guests can also score a WoodStock T-shirt.

Frame Your Pet exhibit

Attention animal art lovers — the Frame Your Pet Competition exhibit is on display inside the Eccles Art Center. The winners of the second annual juried competition were announced earlier this month during Ogden’s First Friday Art Stroll and are on display now through the end of April in the Carriage House Gallery along with the Ogden & Weber School District “Festival of Arts” in the Main Gallery. Stroll into the historic Victorian mansion anytime during operating hours to see the works of talented youth and proud pet parents. The winners of both competitions can also be viewed virtually at ogden4arts.org.

Ogden Music Festival Vinyl Night Takeover

It’s time to dust off your best bluegrass, folk, Americana and soul records and let ’em shine. Browning Presents! Jad Abumrad

In the age of podcasting, digital storytelling is here to stay. Anyone wanting to learn to use technology to “find their voice” has an opportunity to hear from accomplished radio host, journalist, podcaster and musician/composer Jad Abumrad (RadioLab Podcast, More Perfect, Dolly Parton’s America) at Weber State University on Monday. Abumrad, with over 110 million downloads a year, documentaries produced for NPR and several other noteworthy projects, will have valuable knowledge to share for aspiring storytellers.
