The 37th Annual National Undergraduate Literature Conference in memory of Alan Cheuse

When: March 31 – April 2

Location: Virtual and hybrid

Since its inception in 1985, the National Undergraduate Literature Conference at Weber State University, in Ogden, has been held annually in/around April.

The conference intends to create a forum for undergraduates to present their critical and creative works to a panel of their peers. Though all undergraduates are welcome to attend, only those who submitted papers and have been accepted are eligible to present at the conference.

A History of Diversity: WSU Spring Jazz Band Concert ’22

Presented by Weber State Music

When: April 5 at 7:30 p.m.

Location: The Austad Auditorium in WSU’s Val A Browning Center for the Performing Arts (3950 W. Campus Drive, Ogden)

Price: Adults – $10; Students, children, seniors and military members – $7

This concert celebrates jazz history and diversity, featuring music composed from the 1920s through 2019. All compositions are by women and composers of color.

Symphonic Band Spring Concert

Presented by WSU Music

When: April 7 at 7:30 p.m.

Location: The Austad Auditorium in WSU’s Val A Browning Center for the Performing Arts

Price: Adults – $10; Students, children, seniors and military members – $7

This concert will be an incredible opportunity to hear from the many talented musicians studying at Weber State University. Audience members can look forward to hearing an assortment of works by Prokofiev, Debussy, Giroux, Danyew, Chance and Grainger.

The Weber State Symphonic Band is conducted by Dr. JT Womack and is made up of musicians across campus, both majors non-majors.

When Movement Merges: Orchesis Dance Theatre Spring ’22

Presented by Weber State Dance

When: April 7, 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee performance on April 9 at 2 p.m.

Location: The Eccles Theatre in WSU’s Val A Browning Center for the Performing Arts

Price: Adults – $15; Students, children, seniors and military members – $12

WSU’s Orchesis Dance Theatre premieres new, contemporary dance works, created, choreographed and performed by WSU Dance Area students. Intimate and innovative, this year’s concert explores themes of connection and community.

This performance features collaborations with WSU alums Alicia Washington (Theatre) and Jonathan Guerra (Dance), as well as a commissioned work by nationally recognized choreographer Natosha Washington for Moving Company. Additionally, The Ogden MoveMeant Collective, founded by WSU Dance alum Tawna Halbert, will present work created for the Orchesis 21-22 theme.

‘The Importance of Being Earnest’

Presented by WSU Theatre

When: April 8-9 and April 13-16 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee on April 16 at 2 p.m.

Location: The Allred Theater in WSU’s Val A Browning Center for the Performing Arts

Price: Adults – $15; Students, children, seniors and military members – $12

Oscar Wilde’s wildly entertaining comedy sparkles with dazzling wordplay and hilariously unlikely situations. This “trivial comedy for serious people” features two carefree bachelors, Jack and Algernon, each with a carefully hidden double life. But when Algernon discovers that Jack has been posing as a man named Ernest to escape to the city, he promptly travels to Jack’s country estate to pose as the fictional figure himself! Silliness ensues with whimsical ingénues, jealous fiancées, indomitable dowagers and the most famous handbag in theatre history.

Browning Presents! is thrilled to welcome noted podcaster, storyteller and electronic music composer Jad Abumrad to Weber State University to share his knowledge and explain how people of all backgrounds can use technology and the power of stories to find their voice.

Abumrad is the creator of Radiolab Podcast, More Perfect and Dolly Parton’s America. His podcasts are downloaded more than 110 million times each year and his style of storytelling has influenced many of today’s most popular audio programs. In addition to his work in journalism and podcasting, Abumrad is a musician, three-time Peabody Award winner and MacArthur Fellow.
