OGDEN — St. Patrick’s Day is nearly upon us, bringing with it the return of a more than 20-year tradition at Peery’s Egyptian Theater and an opportunity to “experience the authentic textures of Ireland and Scotland.”

The annual Celtic Celebration will be held at Ogden’s historic movie palace and cultural center next week. This year’s event is scheduled for Monday from 7-9 p.m., with lobby doors opening at 6 and house doors at 7. Kassi Bybee, general manager at Ogden Eccles Conference Center and Peery’s Egyptian Theater, told the Standard-Examiner that more than 500 attendees are expected.

“It’s on a Monday evening, right on St. Patrick’s Day, and then you’re home for the evening stuff,” Bybee said. “It’s a great way to get a feel for the Celtic or the Irish as part of a St. Patrick’s Day celebration.”

Performing acts include Callanish, a Salt Lake City-based traditional Celtic and bluegrass group, as well as the Bountiful-based Wasatch & District Pipe Band and the Layton-based Celtic Beat Irish Dancers. Celtic Beat, a troupe of young dancers that performs traditional Irish dances in reel and jig rhythm, is the brainchild of LaRae Thackeray, who has been involved with events at Peery’s dating back to its late 1990s reopening.

“She has one of the original dance studios that first came to Peery’s Egyptian Theater in 1997 when it reopened,” Bybee said. “She was one of the first acts on the theater stage.”

In addition to the performing acts, the evening will include unique St. Patrick’s Day treats and beer served alongside the theater’s regular concessions. Bybee expects that the Guinness will be flowing at the event, and added that the beer will be dyed green in recognition of the holiday, joking that “some beers turn more green than others.”

Added Bybee, “We don’t have the Chicago River that we can turn green, but, here in Ogden, we do have options for St. Patrick’s Day celebration and we encourage people to come and join us.”

Adult tickets for the Celtic Celebration are available for $15 at https://www.ogdenpet.com/events/2025/celtic-celebration/. Child tickets (ages 3 to 12) are available for $12.

Starting at $4.32/week.
