OGDEN — What happens in Vegas stays there.

But what happens in Chicago makes for a darn fine musical comedy/drama.

The film “Chicago” will be shown at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in Peery’s Egyptian Theater, 2415 Washington Blvd. The movie, based on the stage musical of the same name, explores the themes of celebrity, corruption and scandal during the Jazz Age. It’s rated PG-13.

“Chicago” stars Renee Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Richard Gere, with John C. Reilly and Queen Latifah in supporting roles. According to IMDB.com, the film tells the story of “two death-row murderesses (who) develop a fierce rivalry while competing for publicity, celebrity and a sleazy lawyer’s attention.”

Film critic Roger Ebert called the movie “big, brassy fun.” It won the Best Picture award at the 2003 Academy Awards; Zeta-Jones also won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar.

Organizers say costumes are encouraged at the event.

Tickets are $5, available by phone at 801-689-8700 or www.smithstix.com.
