“Providence Falls” is a unique special event on Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Plus. This three-movie storyline is an engaging tale that transcends time — literally.

Cora McLeod (Katie Stevens) and Liam O’Conner (Lachlan Quarmby) are in love. The year is 1844 and the place is Ireland. Cora, an aristocrat, is engaged to aristocrat Finn Walsh (Evan Roderick), but Cora is drawn to Liam, a thief and a scoundrel. Nevertheless, she plans on running away to America with Liam. Their story is one of deep and abiding love. Unfortunately, while escaping on their way out of town, Cora falls off a mountain and dies, leaving Liam to bear the weight of the loss of his true love and to face the law for his crimes of thievery and potential kidnapping.

Liam’s soul has been in a waiting station; however, the Angels of Destiny are now clearing out all the waiting souls and sending them either up or down. Liam is given the opportunity to go “up” if he returns to Earth in today’s time and sets things right between Cora and Finn, reuniting the two who were supposed to be together in 1844 before Liam entered the picture and won her heart. If Liam can get the two “soulmates” together, his soul will be saved. The problem is, he is still in love with Cora.

Now, in modern times, Cora is a rookie police detective and Finn is a successful prosecutor. Their souls have been reincarnated, as have many others in this interesting story of love, fate and providence. Everyone maintains their same names yet no one has memories of their past life, except Liam. He realizes he must put things right in order for Cora to attain her destiny. But just what is Cora’s destiny, and with whom? That is the question viewers will be pondering over the course of these three movies as the trio, along with others who were part of their lives in Ireland, engage in this quest.

In today’s world, Liam has been given the job of detective and brought to Providence Falls, Oregon, to help Cora in her first big case involving murder and robbery. They team up, with Liam trying his hardest to keep his love for her in check and steer her to Finn.

As the two get to work, Cora has dreams about her past life in Ireland; however, she has no idea that what she is dreaming actually happened. Her memories seep into her dreams but she thinks they are just that — dreams.

Finn and Liam are both competing for Cora’s heart, but Liam knows he must do the right thing and set her on the right path to her destiny, which he is told by the angels is with Finn. It makes it even more difficult when he and Cora are working side by side and he rents her guest cottage, so they live in close proximity.

While this intense drama is unfolding, there are plenty of humorous situations, as Liam has not been brought up in the modern world. He came directly from 1844, whereas the others had been reincarnated and have lived in this time their whole lives.

Learning about the modern world while keeping the fact that he is from 1844 is not the easiest thing. He does not know how to drive, use a cellphone or anything we take for granted in 2025. Cora tries to teach him how to drive, but the power of the car is too much for him and he gives up.

In the meantime, there are dark forces also in play. They come from below.

There are scenes from 1844 woven into the movies as the past slowly creeps into the present. Interestingly, Liam sees much of what happened to people in 1844 is happening again to them in 2025. This fact is disturbing, as he wants to do whatever he must to make sure Cora does not die young in this life as she did in her past life.

This is definitely an interesting, engaging and mesmerizing story as it plays out over the three films. And yes, they do need to be seen in order. This special event premiered on Hallmark Channel and is now available to stream on Hallmark Plus. Once viewers begin the story, it will be difficult to stop watching. It is a great tale of love and destiny, good and evil, the past and the present. “Providence Falls” is based on the novels by Jude Deveraux and Tara Sheets, who have created a delightful story both men and women will enjoy.

Starting at $4.32/week.
