The third and final season of the hit Prime Video series “The Summer I Turned Pretty” is another deep dive into the interpersonal relationships of two very close families whose kids have grown up together, and through the years the families have spent their summers jointly in the coastal town of Cousins. Viewers have been captivated by the loves, losses, and journeys of the Fisher and Conklin families.

The season focuses on Belly’s (Isabel) year at college and the subsequent summer. She and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) deepen their relationship. Belly had previously been with Jeremiah’s brother Conrad (Christopher Briney) but now she is in love with Jeremiah, whom she considers her soulmate. He is equally in love with her, but during this year things happen that have a serious impact on their love.

Belly is keeping a secret from Jeremiah and he is keeping a secret from her. But once she discovers his secret, she decides to call it quits. Their feelings for each other run deep so they will not stay apart for long.

In the meantime, Belly’s brother Steven (Sean Kaufman) and the love of his life Taylor (Rain Spencer) have an on-again/off-again relationship. Conrad is off in California studying medicine, Adam Fisher (Tom Everett Scott) is learning to appreciate his youngest son Jeremiah, and Laurel and John Conklin (Jackie Chung and Colin Ferguson) have a disjointed relationship that also has them confronting each other with differing opinions when it comes to the future of their daughter Belly.

With Belly and Jeremiah deciding to get married, the entire cast is thrown into upheaval. Are they too young? Are they really meant for each other? And what about Belly’s semester abroad in Paris, something she has been wanting for a long time? The engagement turns the whole clan and all their plans upside down.

But even though Belly and Jeremiah know they are destined to be together, destiny is not always determined by the mind. Sometimes the heart must change what someone thinks is right.

The series is a multigenerational drama. It is also a show about mothers and daughters as Belly and Laurel’s close relationship is put to the test, as well as Belly’s best friend Taylor and her mother who is not as parental as she should be when it comes to her daughter. The father/son connection between Adam and his sons Jeremiah and Conrad is another aspect that blends into this confusing familial situations. When it comes down to it, there are plenty of dysfunctional relationships between most of the characters, yet outwardly they seem like the perfect families.

The thread running through all three seasons is the triangle of Belly, Jeremiah, and Conrad. While all three have deep feelings, it is ultimately up to Belly to decide once and for all which one of the Fisher men she will spend the rest of her life with.

The books on which this series is based, have been taken to the hearts of readers of all ages. The first book was published in 2009, with the following two published in 2010 and 2011. Fans of the books have anxiously awaited to see the stories unfold, and now the finale is ready to drop.

“The Summer I Turned Pretty” is a mesmerizing drama that has been a summer must-see for fans over the past three years. Seasons one and two and the ten episodes of season three are now available to stream on Prime Video, with the final eleventh episode premiering September 17, 2025.
