OGDEN — Chamber Orchestra Ogden is holding its annual Red Dress Concert on Saturday, playing a range of pieces and featuring the group’s performers as soloists in two of them.

The concert is sponsored by Ogden Regional Medical Center to mark American Heart Month, which is February. It begins at 7:30 p.m. and will be held at Peery’s Egyptian Theater, 2415 Washington Blvd. in Ogden.

Among the pieces will be the overture to Gioacchino Rossini’s popular opera “La Gazza Ladra,” or “The Thieving Magpie.” The orchestra’s principal trombonist, Kyle Larson, will be featured next in an arrangement of Alexandre Guilmant’s “Morceau Symphonique,” Op. 88.

After that, principal cellist Austin Packer will be featured in Edward Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E. The final work will be Robert Schumann’s Symphony No. 1 in B-flat, Op. 38, subtitled “Spring,” Schumann’s first completed symphonic work.

Tickets are $10 and are available by phone at 801-689-8700 or in person at the Peery’s Egyptian Theater box office, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. They may also be purchased online at ogdenpet.com/tickets or at the door starting about one hour before the concert begins.

Active military, veterans and their families are admitted without charge, as are students ages 8-18. Michael Palumbo is the orchestra’s music director and conductor.
