OGDEN — Marie Osmond will be part of Peery’s Egyptian Theater’s 100th anniversary celebration in January.

The famed entertainer, who is an Ogden native, will perform at the gala. A gourmet dinner also will be served.

The event will be held Jan. 26 at the Ogden Eccles Conference Center, 2415 Washington Blvd.

Tickets, which must be purchased in advance, are $250 each, or $2,500-$5,000 for a table of 10. Black tie attire is required. Tables are limited and can be purchased by calling the theater box office at 801-689-8700 or by calling Kassi Bybee at 801-689-8602 or emailing her at kbybee@oeccutah.com.

According to visitogden.com, the 800-seat theater opened its doors July 3, 1924. It initially was built as a movie theater and closed in 1984. It then reopened after a complete restoration in 1997 as a community performing arts center.

The theater can accommodate live performances, dance, music, symphonic and multimedia performances as well as film, according to the website.

“We chose Marie because we wanted to have someone that has Ogden roots that grew up coming to the Peery’s Egyptian Theater and the Osmond family has fond memories of Ogden,” said Bybee, general manager at the Ogden Eccles Conference Center and Peery’s Egyptian Theater.

Bybee said the event is important because 100-year celebrations only happen once in a lifetime.

“So many people in our community and throughout the entire state of Utah and beyond, have memories of this iconic treasure here in Ogden,” Bybee said. “We have people that are joining us from other states, flying in for the occasion to help celebrate what this community came together and accomplished. Ogden is unique. We came together and worked tirelessly to restore this beautiful theater, to keep the theater in our community thriving rather than demolish it and bring in the new.”

Bybee said the evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a social featuring music, bars and appetizers where people can visit, reminisce and have a photo opportunity.

“At 6:30 p.m., we will be seated for a delicious dinner and program in the grand ballroom of the David Eccles Conference Center,” she said.

The menu will include a roasted beet and goat cheese salad with maple balsamic vinaigrette, rosemary-flavored filet with shrimp scampi atop creamy garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed fresh greens, and a chocolate and fresh berry-filled pyramid.

At 7 p.m., former Weber County Commissioner Spencer Stokes will emcee the evening and take the audience down a memory lane of the theater. At 7:40, guests will move to the theater and at 8 p.m. Osmond will perform.

“Many additional events are planned throughout the year in celebration of this 100th anniversary,” Bybee said. “There is something or all to attend.”
