With names like Alotta Ducksauce, Miss Ebola Cherries and GwenIveer Garbo, you can bet the drag performers in an upcoming production at Good Company Theatre are going to provide some over-the-top entertainment.

Those three, along with Miera Moore and Donna Mae Trix, are Ogden-based drag queens who plan three performances of a glamorous, cheeky, cabaret-style show.

“This is something we’ve wanted to do for a while now, since we opened,” said Alicia Washington, the theater’s artistic director. “It’s a way to present new performers to the scene and to offer something sparkly and light-hearted for the summer.”

Some of the five male performers are Good Company Theatre veterans, Washington said. For others, this will be a debut.

“They are acquaintances I have worked with over the years,” she said. “We’ve always wanted to do something more inclusive than how a drag show is typically presented. There’s an amazing history, long when it comes to drag shows. We wanted do one shaped by our image and how we would do a drag show.”

Washington said she would rate the event PG-13. The theater’s website suggests it is appropriate for 16 and older.

“A lot of people think of drag shows as men in tights,” Washington said. “As in anyone who steps forward to create a character, their performances are carefully and tenderly pursued. These actors have taken time to execute their solos to the best of their ability, and to tell a story within the time frame of our performances.”

The evening will include solos and group performances.

“We have five individuals telling their own stories and putting together their own character with costumes and voice, as part of an anthology for the evening,” Washington said. “The drag troupe is taking it to a new level as far as the preparation they are taking. They are putting on a collective piece.”

Innuendos and jokes will flow freely, she said, but this is not a burlesque show. Content will be geared toward an adult audience, but will be playful and surprising rather than seeking to offend just for effect.

If the show goes well, Washington said such events may be scheduled on an occasional basis.

“This is our first time,” she said. “We’ll see how it goes.”

There does seem to be a high interest, Washington said, based on ticket sales.

“They are going fast, so buy them now,” she said. “Come and have a good time with something new. It’s a fresh take for Good Company and for drag shows. There’s a whole group of talented people ready to put on a good show.”
