WASHINGTON TERRACE — The Terrace Plaza Playhouse has been waiting to get its hands on “The Addams Family.” Finally, it’s here. The show opens Friday, Oct. 2 and promises to be a family-friendly, fun Halloween show.

“It’s pretty new and has not been available to produce until recently. We got it as soon as we could to put into our Halloween slot,” said Brandon Stauffer, marketing director for Terrace Plaza. “It’s a really fun show and it’s really coming together and looking good.”

The show is based on the characters from the 1960s television show. “Everyone knows and loves the show and loves the characters,” Stauffer said.

The show is set in the Addams Family house and is centered around Wednesday. She has fallen in love. Wednesday tells her father, Gomez, but he has to keep it a secret from his wife, Morticia — something he has never done before. The family of the boy stops by for a visit and hilarity ensues. “It’s just really, really great,” Stauffer said.

The cast is a mixture of seasoned Terrace Plaza performers along with some new ones. “It’s been really great to get some new blood in and also to watch the more seasoned performers work with them,” Stauffer said.

The show is completely double cast because of its long run. The show opens this Friday and runs every Friday, Saturday and Monday until Nov. 14.

“We make sure all of our shows are for the whole family. It’s something we try really, really hard to do and we are proud of that,” Stauffer said.

It has a Halloween feel with lots of special effects. There is a dance sequence where the “dead ancestors” come out in scary costumes and start dancing. “They do a fun dance that makes it not feel scary at all,” Stauffer said.

“I grew up with the Addams Family and this show is full of really funny musical scenes and lots of laughter,” Stauffer said. “It’s a fun, feel-good show.”

The show is directed by Dennis Ferrin and has a cast of Gomez played by Nick Balaich; Morticia is Dana Francis and Laura Crossett; Wednesday is Brandi Francis and Morgan Richards; Fester is John Rollins; Pugsley is Taylor Sachs and Matthew Rees; Grandma is Carole Taylor and Janet Loureiro; and Lurch is Stefan Kurzius.

Cost of the show is adults, $12 and $14, students/seniors: (62-plus) $11 and $13, and children (12 and under) $9 and $11. Tickets can be purchased online and season tickets are also available. Check the website for more information at www.terraceplayhouse.com. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. The Terrace Plaza Playhouse is at 99 East 4700 South in Washington Terrace.
