EOD hunt for bombs at Utah range

By Staff | Nov 11, 2016

HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah — Reservists in the 419th Explosive Ordnance Disposal flight prepare to sweep a site at the Utah Test and Training range Oct. 22 for any unexploded bombs left over from routine aircraft training missions. EOD Airmen conduct sweeps at the range on foot or with all-terrain vehicles, spacing themselves 15 to 20 feet apart and traveling in straight lines to cover the most ground. The UTTR is about 100 miles west of Hill Air Force Base and plays host to a wide variety of aircraft to include Hill’s F-16 and F-35s, which drop live weapons on various targets at the range.
