HILL AIR FORCE BASE — Airmen in the 75th Air Base Wing came together in June to participate in a military readiness exercise.

The exercise gave Airmen from different career fields the opportunity to work alongside one another while focusing on a common goal.

James Hagemier, 75th ABW Inspector General chief of inspections, said Airmen focused on mission essential tasks and the ability to survive and operate in a wartime environment.

They responded to chemical, biological, radiological, and explosive incidents, performed self-aid and buddy care to simulated battlefield injuries, and practiced other essential combat skills.

In addition, command, control, and communication was emphasized.

Part of the exercise also included convoy operations, movement of assets, and firefighting tasks.

“These are all vital skills to have,” Hagemier said. “They are ones which present personnel with significant risk when performed in a hostile environment, as it could potentially require them to execute many of their critical war fighting skills.”

The wing routinely holds readiness exercises, which test and enhance a unit’s ability to prepare, respond and recover from combat situations.

Starting at $4.32/week.
