Northern Utah Living: 3 events to check out this week (Aug. 2-10)

The full Northern Utah calendar of events is on L4, but here are three local events you should check out this week:

1. Weber County Fair

Weber County Fairgrounds, Ogden, Aug. 6-9

It’s time for the whole county to get together and have some fun. According to the website: “The Weber County Fair is where friends, families, and neighbors come together to celebrate the best of our community. From exciting rodeos and live entertainment to delicious fair food and hands-on exhibits, there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re here for the carnival rides, the agricultural showcases, or the friendly competitions, the fair is a place to make lasting memories and experience the traditions that make Weber County special.”

2. National Night Out Against Crime

The first Tuesday in August is right around the corner and that means it’s time to break down some barriers between citizens and police. Night Out Against Crime is an annual event designed to increase public awareness of crime prevention, build bridges between law enforcement and the community. Millions take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities throughout the country on the first Tuesday of August in most areas of the country. National Night Out sends a message that neighbors are united and working together to keep their communities and each other safe.

3. Water Lantern Festival

Jensen Nature Park, Syracuse, Aug. 2, 6 p.m.

According to the event website, “Water Lantern Festival is an incredible experience where you, your friends, and your family will create a magical memory together. It can be a very emotional experience, writing down some of your hope and dreams, or a letter to a loved one, and then sending it out into the water. At Water Lantern Festival, we cherish these moments and will do our best to help you have an memorable experience that you’ll never forget.”
