The full Northern Utah calendar of events is on L4, but here are three local events you should check out this week:

1.Veterans Parade and Veterans Honors Ceremony

Layton Commons Park, Nov. 8, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

From the city website: “Layton City, the Northern Utah Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), and the Fleet Reserve Association (FRA) will host the annual Veterans Parade. The Veterans Parade is an event to honor all men and women who have served and are currently serving in the Armed Forces. This year will mark the 19th year of the Veterans Parade and the 6th time it has been held in Layton City. The Veterans Parade, scheduled to start at 11:11 a.m., will proceed along Wasatch Drive, through Layton Commons Park (Constitution Circle), and ending at the south end of Layton Commons Park, near Hawthorne Drive. All community organizations as well as veterans groups are invited to participate in the parade. Being a veteran group is not required to participate in the parade. Anyone that desires to say thank you to veterans is also welcome.”

2. The Trails Foundation of Northern Utah Presents: The Ogden Mountain Film Festival

Peery’s Egyptian Theater, Nov. 6, 8-10 p.m.

From the event website: “Get ready to ignite your passion for the great outdoors! The Ogden Mountain Film Festival is gearing up to celebrate the adrenaline-fueled adventures and breathtaking landscapes of Ogden, Utah, like never before. Presented by the Trails Foundation of Northern Utah, OMFF is on the hunt for short films that capture the heart-pounding excitement and sheer beauty of exploring our local mountains. This is for you, both seasoned pros and aspiring amateurs alike! We want to see your wildest escapades, from epic hikes and heart-stopping climbs to adrenaline-pumping biking and soul-soaring skiing. Whether you’re shredding the slopes or casting your line in pristine waters, showcase your outdoor pursuits in a way that leaves us spellbound.”

3. Turkey Triathlon and 5K Trot

Weber State University Swenson Building, Nov. 8, 9-11:30 a.m.

From the event website: “The 21st Annual Turkey Triathlon and 5K Trot, put on by Weber State Campus Recreation, includes a 5k run, 10k bike, 300yd swim, and is a reverse sprint distance to introduce participants to Triathlons. The race circles the Weber State Campus, which offers gorgeous views of the Wasatch Front as you run and bike.”
