There’s something about a full-size pickup that fits naturally into life along the Wasatch Front. From workday commutes to weekend errands and the occasional heavy-duty task, a good truck becomes less of a vehicle and more of a trusted partner.
That certainly proved to be the case during our week behind the wheel of the 2025 Ram 1500 Laramie Crew Cab 4×4, finished in the eye-catching Delmonico Red. It carried us through a typical week of driving around Utah County and capped it off by hauling sound equipment to Provo’s annual Countdown in Provo New Year’s Eve celebration.
First impressions: A confident presence
Delmonico Red was a color that suited the Ram 1500 perfectly. Deep and glossy in the winter sun, it gave the truck a true premium look while still hinting at its work-ready roots. Parked in the driveway or pulling into shopping centers around Springville, Orem and Provo, the Ram drew plenty of attention — not flashy, but confident.
The Laramie trim struck a nice balance between upscale and practical. Chrome accents, a bold front grille, sculpted body lines and modern LED lighting all contributed to a truck that looked as capable as it felt. At a glance, it was unmistakably a Ram — but a refined one.

Inside the Laramie: Comfort comes standard
Opening the door revealed one of the Ram 1500’s strongest selling points: the interior. The Crew Cab offered generous space for passengers, and the Laramie trim added a level of comfort that made long days behind the wheel easier.
The seats were supportive and well-cushioned, ideal for commuting to work during the week or sitting in traffic along I-15. Heated front seats were especially appreciated on cold winter mornings, and the driver’s seat offered excellent adjustability for long stretches of driving.
The dashboard was clean and well organized, anchored by Ram’s Uconnect infotainment system, which remains one of the most intuitive setups in the segment. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connected quickly, making navigation and music streaming effortless. Physical buttons for climate and audio controls are thoughtfully retained — a welcome feature when you don’t want to hunt through menus while driving.
Rear seat passengers were treated just as well, with plenty of legroom and headroom. Whether carrying coworkers, friends or family members, no one complained about space — and that says a lot.

Hurricane power: A new kind of strength
Under the hood of the 2025 Ram 1500 Laramie was the new 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six SO twin-turbo engine, a modern powerplant that represented Ram’s shift toward smarter, more efficient performance.
This engine delivered strong horsepower and impressive torque, and more importantly, it did so smoothly. Acceleration was confident without being abrupt, and merging onto I-15 or passing slower traffic on surface roads felt effortless. The twin turbos provide quick response, eliminating the lag once associated with turbocharged engines.
Around Utah County — from Springville to Orem, Provo and beyond — the Hurricane engine proved to be an excellent match for daily driving. It was quieter than a traditional V8, yet still delivered the kind of punch we expected from a full-size pickup. Paired with a smooth-shifting automatic transmission, the drivetrain felt refined and composed in nearly every situation.
A normal week, the Ram way

We spent the week using the Ram exactly how many local owners would — commuting to work, running errands, hauling groceries and making trips to hardware and retail stores. Despite its size, the Ram never felt cumbersome in parking lots or tight urban spaces, thanks in part to good visibility and available driver-assist features.
Fuel economy was respectable for a four-wheel-drive full-size truck, especially considering the power on tap.
Ride quality deserves special mention. Ram’s suspension tuning did an excellent job absorbing rough pavement and road imperfections, making every day driving comfortable rather than tiring.
Putting the bed to work: Countdown in Provo
The highlight of the week came as New Year’s Eve approached, when Craig needed to transport sound equipment for Countdown in Provo, the city’s annual celebration downtown. This was where the Ram 1500 truly earned its keep.

Loading speakers, stands, cables and other gear into the bed was easy, and the truck never felt strained under the weight. The bed’s wide opening and available lighting made loading after dark straightforward, while the solid suspension kept everything stable on the road.
By the time the night wrapped up and gear was unloaded, it was clear the Ram had handled the job exactly as intended — quietly, competently and without drama.
Technology and safety where it counts
The 2025 Ram 1500 Laramie comes equipped with a strong list of safety and convenience features that enhance daily driving:
- Adaptive Cruise Control made freeway travel less fatiguing.
- Blind-Spot Monitoring proved helpful when changing lanes on busy roads.
- Lane-Keep Assist and Forward Collision Warning added peace of mind.
- Backup Camera and Sensors made parking and hitching easier.
The infotainment system remained responsive throughout the week, and the available premium audio system provided clear, full sound — whether listening to music, podcasts or news during daily commutes.

Room for family and friends
One of the advantages of the Crew Cab design is its versatility. During the week, the Ram comfortably carried passengers of all ages. Rear doors open wide, making entry and exit easy, and the flat rear floor provides plenty of space for feet, backpacks and bags.
For families or those who frequently drive with passengers, the Ram 1500 Laramie feels less like a work truck and more like a full-size family vehicle — one that just happens to have a very capable bed out back.
Final thoughts: A modern truck for real life
After a full week with the 2025 Ram 1500 Laramie, it was clear why Ram continues to be a leader in the full-size pickup segment. This truck blends comfort, technology and capability in a way that feels especially well-suited to life in Utah County.
The 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six twin-turbo engine delivered strong, refined performance that fits modern driving needs, while the Laramie trim provided the comfort and features that make daily use enjoyable. From commuting and errands to hauling sound gear for a major community event, the Ram handled every task with ease.
