Craig Conover’s friends, left to right, Keagan Johnson, Mike Christensen, and Jared Lloyd, gather around the 2026 Toyota Sienna Woodland Edition before a golf tournament. Finished in an eye-catching Cypress green, this adventure-themed minivan easily stood out in the parking lot while serving as our ultimate tournament car.

There are few vehicles on the market today that can claim to do almost everything well. Most are either focused on hauling people, carrying cargo, saving fuel, or venturing into the outdoors. During our week behind the wheel of the 2026 Toyota Sienna XLE AWD Hybrid Woodland Edition, however, we found a vehicle that successfully blended all of those capabilities into one practical package.

Finished in an eye-catching Cypress green exterior color, our test Sienna stood out from the sea of gray, white and black vehicles that dominate today’s roads. The rich earth-tone paint seemed especially fitting for the Woodland Edition, Toyota’s adventure-themed version of its popular minivan.

While some still dismiss minivans as boring family transportation, our week with the Sienna reminded us just how versatile these vehicles have become–and how difficult it is for even the largest SUVs to match their overall usefulness.

A busy week for the Sienna

As is often the case, our test vehicle quickly became the family’s go-to transportation for the week. Daily commuting to work, errands around Utah County, grocery runs and family activities were handled with ease.

Inside, the driver-focused cabin of the Sienna balances high-end comfort with modern utility. The elevated seating position provides an outstanding view of the road, while Toyota’s intuitive infotainment screen features seamless wireless smartphone integration to make navigating across Utah County effortless.

The Sienna’s hybrid powertrain made those everyday trips especially pleasant. With fuel prices always on our minds, it was refreshing to spend an entire week driving a vehicle this large while averaging an impressive 35.5 miles per gallon.

That efficiency became even more remarkable when we considered how much work the Sienna accomplished during the week.

Craig had two separate trips to Ogden, each highlighting a different strength of the minivan.

The first journey was for a golf tournament. Instead of taking multiple vehicles, Craig loaded three friends into the Sienna along with four complete sets of golf clubs and assorted gear. Even with all the passengers and equipment onboard, there was still room to spare.

The spacious interior meant nobody felt cramped during the drive north, and the hybrid powertrain barely seemed affected by the additional weight. The trip also provided an opportunity to appreciate the Sienna’s comfortable ride quality on Interstate 15.

Keagan Johnson unloads his clubs from the massive rear cargo area of the Sienna Woodland Edition. The hybrid minivan seamlessly swallowed four complete sets of golf clubs and assorted tournament gear with plenty of room to spare, ensuring nobody felt cramped on the drive north to Ogden.

The second trip to Ogden was more business-oriented, once again demonstrating the flexibility of the Toyota.

Weekend workhorse

Many people purchase pickup trucks believing they need maximum cargo capability. While trucks certainly have their place, the Sienna proved during our weekend that it can handle a surprising amount of hauling itself.

We were tasked with moving sound equipment for a pair of local events, and the Woodland Edition stepped up without hesitation.

The large rear cargo area swallowed speakers, stands, cables and various pieces of audio equipment with ease. The low load floor made loading and unloading simple, while the enclosed cargo area protected everything from weather and prying eyes.

With its increased ground clearance, unique wheels and rugged styling elements, the Woodland Edition looks perfectly at home parked by an outdoor retreat. Built for active families who enjoy camping, hiking or skiing, its standard electronic on-demand all-wheel-drive system gives Utah drivers extra peace of mind for all-weather adventures.

It’s difficult to imagine many midsize SUVs carrying as much equipment while simultaneously providing excellent fuel economy and seating for multiple passengers.

That combination of practicality may be the Sienna’s greatest strength.

Hybrid power done right

Under the hood, the 2026 Sienna Woodland Edition utilizes Toyota’s proven hybrid system paired with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine.

The hybrid setup produces a combined 245 horsepower, which may not sound overwhelming on paper, but in real-world driving it proved more than effective.

Acceleration was smooth and predictable whether merging onto the freeway, climbing mountain grades or navigating city traffic.

Toyota’s hybrid technology has reached a level of refinement where it simply works in the background. Drivers rarely think about when the gasoline engine or electric motors are operating. The system seamlessly blends power sources for maximum efficiency.

The Woodland Edition also comes standard with electronic on-demand all-wheel drive, a welcome feature for Utah drivers. While we didn’t encounter snow during our test week, knowing the Sienna is prepared for winter weather provides additional peace of mind.

Woodland Edition adds adventure flair

The Woodland Edition gives the Sienna a slightly more rugged personality than its standard counterparts.

Toyota has equipped this model with increased ground clearance, unique wheels, roof rails and exclusive exterior styling elements designed to appeal to active families.

The Cypress exterior color particularly complemented the Woodland package, creating an outdoors-oriented appearance that felt at home whether parked at a golf course, community event or trailhead.

Although no one will mistake the Sienna for a dedicated off-road vehicle, the additional ground clearance and AWD system provide extra confidence when traveling on dirt roads or through challenging weather conditions.

For families who enjoy camping, hiking, skiing or other outdoor activities, those upgrades add meaningful capability.

Comfort for the whole crew

Inside, the Sienna continues to excel as a family vehicle.

The front seats offered excellent comfort throughout our week, including the longer drives to Ogden. Visibility was outstanding, and the elevated seating position provided a commanding view of the road.

Second-row passengers enjoyed generous legroom and easy access through the wide sliding doors. Those doors remain one of the minivan’s greatest advantages, especially in crowded parking lots where traditional SUV doors can be difficult to open fully.

The cabin felt open and airy, thanks in part to large windows and thoughtful interior design.

Toyota’s infotainment system was intuitive and responsive, featuring wireless smartphone integration that made navigation, music and communication effortless.

Numerous USB ports throughout the cabin ensured everyone’s devices remained charged during longer trips.

Safety comes standard

Toyota continues to make safety a priority across its lineup, and the Sienna benefits from the latest Toyota Safety Sense suite of driver assistance technologies.

Features such as adaptive cruise control, lane tracing assist, blind-spot monitoring and automatic emergency braking worked seamlessly throughout our week.

The adaptive cruise control proved especially useful during the freeway drives to Ogden, helping reduce fatigue while maintaining safe following distances.

For families considering a minivan, these advanced safety systems add significant value and peace of mind.

Living with the Sienna

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of our week with the Sienna Woodland Edition was how naturally it fit into every task we asked of it.

One day it served as a commuter vehicle. The next, it was transporting golfers and their clubs to a tournament. Later in the week it became a cargo hauler for professional sound equipment.

Through it all, it delivered fuel economy that many compact crossovers would envy.

Modern minivans may not generate the excitement of performance cars or luxury SUVs, but after spending a week with the Sienna, we were reminded that usefulness can be just as appealing.

Toyota has built a vehicle that prioritizes real-world functionality without sacrificing comfort, technology or efficiency.

Final thoughts

The 2026 Toyota Sienna XLE AWD Woodland Edition may very well be one of the most practical vehicles available today.

Its combination of hybrid efficiency, all-wheel-drive capability, spacious seating, impressive cargo capacity and family-friendly features creates a package that few competitors can match.

Most importantly, the Sienna proved itself throughout a demanding week of family transportation, business travel, golf outings and event support duties.

When a vehicle can comfortably carry four golfers and their clubs one day, move sound equipment the next, and still return 35.5 mpg for the week, it deserves recognition.
