LDS missionaries give Snoop Dogg a Book of Mormon
It’s been six years since rapper Snoop Dogg was making headlines for something he actually didn’t do — convert to Mormonism. An article on a fake CNN page, which has since been deleted, claimed he converted after studying the religion for a year. The article was a hoax and April fools joke.
Snoop Dogg and Mormons are once again popping up across social media feeds for something that did, in fact, happen. Two missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints met Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, at a high school football game in Las Vegas.
A comment on the photo submitted to the LDS Missionaries Facebook page explains the exchange.
“Sister ‘Otukolo, from Hawaii, has a brother who plays football for Bishop Gorman, a high school in the Las Vegas area. They got permission from their mission president to attend one of the games. The football-playing brother mentioned that Snoop Dogg’s son also plays for the team, and so the Sisters actually went looking for him, and apparently found him.”
The page admins can’t confirm whether the sister missionaries left the Book of Mormon with him or not.
Another comment on the photo says “bow wow wow yippi yo yippi yay, The Book of Mormon will go forth in the latter-day!!”
Even if Snoop Dogg didn’t take it home, Sisters ‘Otukolo and Andelin will have a great mission story to tell.
