When, where to worship on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day

Because Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, lands on a Sunday this year, some Ogden area churches have varied from their traditional holiday service times and plans.
While some have added services, others have reduced. Visitors who traditionally have attended only on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day are advised to double-check their local churches’ schedules ahead of time.
Here’s a list of responding churches that provided times of this year’s Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services.
Alpine Church
• Brigham City services will be held at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Christmas Eve at 58 S. 100 West.
? Riverdale services will be held at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., noon and 11 p.m. Christmas Eve at 5050 S. 1275 West.
? Layton Christmas services will be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, and at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and noon Sunday, Dec. 24, at 254 W. 2675 North.
• Logan Christmas Eve services will be held at 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. at 395 S. Main St.
• The church’s new Syracuse location will launch its first services at 10:30 a.m. Christmas Eve at 848 W. 1600 South, Suite 102, in Clearfield.
• In West Haven, services will be held at 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Sunday at 4433 S. 3100 West.

Ascension Lutheran Church
A regular Sunday morning worship service will start the day at 9:30 a.m. Refreshments will follow.
Christmas Eve services will start at 4 p.m. with a candlelight service for children and families. A formal candlelight worship service will be held at 9 p.m.
There will be no Christmas morning service.

Clearfield Community Church
A regular service is planned for 11 a.m. Sunday.
A candlelight, family-friendly Christmas Eve service will be held at 6 p.m. with light refreshments to follow.

Congregational United Church of Christ
Regular Sunday worship, including a 9:15 a.m. adult Bible study and an 11 a.m. service, is planned.
There will also be a 4:30 p.m. Christmas Eve sing-along, followed by a 5 p.m. candlelight service of lessons and carols.

Community United Methodist Church
A regular worship service is set for 10 a.m. Sunday.
The church will hold three Christmas Eve candlelight services at 7 p.m., 9 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Cornerstone Bible Church
The Sunday worship service is planned for 10 a.m.
A 7 p.m. Christmas Eve candlelight service will be held at 3072 W. 300 North, Suite 2C, in West Point. Refreshments will be served.

Elim Lutheran Church
The church at 575 23rd St. in Ogden will hold a 10 a.m. Sunday Christmas Eve worship with holy communion.
Also that night is a 7 p.m. Christmas Eve candlelight service with no communion.

Elevation Church
Christmas Eve candlelight services will be held at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the church at 375 S. State St. in Clearfield.
A Spanish service is planned for 1 p.m.

Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd
Christmas Eve services will include a 9 a.m. worship featuring Holy Eucharist Rite I. At 10:30 a.m. the Spanish congregation La Santa Eucaristia La Navidad will gather.
A family Christmas Eucharist and pageant will be held at 5 p.m., followed by a 10:30 p.m. Christmas Festival Eucharist.

Episcopal Church of the Resurrection
The Fourth Sunday of Advent will be celebrated at 10 a.m. with Christmas Eve Holy Eucharist at 7 p.m.

First Presbyterian Church of Ogden
Regular Sunday worship will be held at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Dec. 24.
Special Christmas Eve service is scheduled for 7 p.m.

First United Methodist Church
A 10 a.m. Christmas Eve service will feature lighting the fourth Advent candle. Rev. Kim James will offer a Christmas sermon.
A 7 p.m. service Christmas Eve will celebrate the birth of the Savior with carols, scripture and candlelight.

Genesis Project Church
Church services will be at regular times, 9:30 and 11:30 a.m., at the church located at 3525 Riverdale Road in Ogden.

Glory to God Old Catholic Church
A Saturday, Dec. 23, service with HOPE is planned for 6 p.m.
Sunday mass is planned for 11 a.m. Dec. 24.
Special Christmas Eve celebrations begin at 6 p.m., featuring Christmas cookies and warm beverages in Monsignor Murphy Hall next to the church located at 375 Harrison Blvd. in Ogden. Mass begins at 7 p.m.

A regular worship service is planned 10:30 a.m.
Christmas Eve candlelight services will be held at 6 p.m.

Lakeside Community Church Assembly of God
An hourlong Christmas Eve candlelight service will start at 10:30 a.m. at 305 W. 1300 North in Sunset. The service will focus on the story of the birth of Jesus through scripture and music, including traditional carols and contemporary Christian songs. Call 801-644-6976 for information.
Morgan Valley Christian Church
A Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, service is set for 10:30 a.m.

Mountain Road Church
A Christmas communion service is planned for 10:30 a.m.

Our Savior’s Lutheran Church
Regular contemporary services are planned for 10:30 a.m.
Christmas Eve candlelight services will be held at 5 p.m. for contemporary and 9 p.m. for traditional.

Refuge Church
Candlelight Christmas Eve services are planned for 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Rocky Mountain Bible Church
The church, located at 659 N. Main St. in Brigham City, will hold two Christmas Eve services Sunday.
At the 10 a.m. service, Lee Peltier will explore “Peace to Those with Whom He is Pleased” based on Luke 2:14.
At the 5 p.m. service, Pastor Steve Barsuhn will examine “Immanuel, God with Us” from Isaiah 7:14 and Matthew 1:23.
Both services will include congregational carol singing and special music.

Second Baptist Church

St. Michael’s Episcopal Church
A regular 11:30 a.m. Dec. 24 worship service will be held to celebrate the fourth Sunday of Advent.
A special Christmas Eve service will be at 8 p.m.

St. Paul Lutheran Church
Regular Sunday morning service will be held at 9:30 a.m. with holy communion.
Special Christmas Eve services are planned for 6 p.m. with candlelight worship and 9 p.m. with holy communion.
Sunday, Dec. 31, the church will hold a 5 p.m. New Year’s Eve special service following a regular 9:30 a.m. service with holy communion.

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church
A regular 9:30 a.m. Dec. 24 worship service will be held to celebrate the fourth Sunday of Advent.
A special Christmas Eve service will be at 9:30 p.m.

The Heights Community
Washington Heights Church, located at 1770 E. 6200 South in South Ogden, will not hold regular Sunday morning services Dec. 24. Special Christmas Eve services will be held at 2 p.m., 3:15 p.m., 4:45 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Christmas Eve childcare will be available for infants through age 3. For information, call 801-479-7030.
Iglesia Nuevas Altruas (Español), at 1720 Washington Blvd. in Ogden, also will not hold regular Sunday morning services on Christmas Eve. Instead, the church will hold a special service at 4 p.m. in English and at 5:30 p.m. in Spanish. Childcare will available for children up to 3 years old. For information, call 801-781-4261.
Trinity Presbyterian
A regular Sunday worship is planned for 11 a.m. Christmas Eve.
Special candlelight Christmas Eve service will be held at 8 p.m. at 140 N. Tyler Ave. in Ogden. For information, call 801-393-2661.
