New restaurants coming to Layton
LAYTON – City leaders have given the green light to a commercial development on Antelope Drive that includes plans to open two new restaurants and one fast food business.
In action taken recently, the city council gave final approval to a commercial plat at the Castlebrook Subdivision at 930 West Antelope Drive. The project will include three commercial buildings in an area that once housed a wedding reception center.
One lot will house a Popeye’s Chicken fast food facility while another will house two separate restaurants users with Pizza Rev and Moe’s. No prospective tenant has been announced for the third building, according to Bill Wright, director of Community and Economic Development.
Wright said Popeye’s has already applied for a building permit. The franchise would be the second in Davis County. The other Popeye’s is located on base at Hill Air Force Base.
Also, the council has granted approval for an on-premise liquor license for Trolley Station at 855 West Heritage Park Boulevard.
The council voted unanimously to approve a request by John Riddle, who owns the restaurant, to grant the liquor license after a background check on the distance of the company from public or private schools and facilities and a criminal background check on the owner. The restaurant is located in a facility that once housed Bandidos Border Grill.
Liquor licenses are granted by the state’s Department of Alcohol Beverage Control, and the council’s role in the process is to make a recommendation to the state governing body.
