Ogden’s Slackwater Pub and Pizzeria to open second location near Sandy mall
OGDEN — A favorite Ogden restaurant is branching out to Salt Lake County.
Slackwater Pub and Pizzeria will be opening a new location in Sandy, according to the restaurant’s general manager Blake Hirschi.
He said that the new location will open at 10290 S. State St., in a building just north of The Shops at South Town mall in Sandy. The location is the former home of Dry Creek Steakhouse, which closed its doors in years past.
The new location will be roughly a mile to the south of Rio Tinto Stadium, home of Real Salt Lake and the Utah Royals soccer teams.
Hirschi hopes to bring Slackwater’s enthusiasm for the outdoors to the new location in Sandy.
“As we go onto the Sandy area, we want to try to take what is Ogden culture with us and share that love and passion for nature and getting outside,” Hirschi said.
The project is still ongoing, and Hirschi said he hopes to have the new Slackwater location open sometime this fall.
An opening date should be announced to the public later this year, Hirschi said.
Slackwater started as a 30-seat restaurant in 2011 connected to a neighboring bike shop, and the Ogden restaurant can now seat more than 200 patrons when the patio is open during warmer months.
