OGDEN -- It's like a little taste of summer in the dead of winter.

For a second year, Farmers Market Ogden is bringing back its Winter Market, featuring local farmers, artisans and musicians providing Utah-based goods and services to chase away the cold.

Presented by the Ogden Downtown Alliance, the Winter Market is described as a six-week slimmed-down version of the popular outdoor Farmers Market Ogden. The 2019 version of the Winter Market kicks off on Saturday and continues each week through Feb. 23. Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Saturday, in Ogden's Union Station, 2501 Wall Ave. Admission is free.

"It's just a fun little Saturday morning activity in the winter," said Danielle Collier, marketing and communications coordinator for Ogden Downtown Alliance. "And the timing is interesting, because we've got Valentine's Day right around the corner. This is a great opportunity to stock up on some unique little presents."

This year's Winter Market will feature 50 vendors set up inside the train station. Described as a "cozy, indoor opportunity," the market offers patrons the chance to shop for local preserves, jams, fresh-baked goods, artisan works, warm seasonal beverages and more.

"Yes, there is produce, but it looks a little different than in the summer," Collier said. "We've got preserves and jams from farms that grow fresh berries. ... There will be a few vegetables here and there, but it will all depend on the day and how things look."

Collier said they've got local chefs making sauces and seasonings, fresh-baked goods and other items. The market will also feature three vendors selling locally raised meat.

In addition to the goods for sale, the Front YogaLoft will hold community yoga classes at 10 a.m. each Saturday, upstairs in the Old Timers Room, according to Collier.

And each week beginning at 10:30 a.m., two live acoustic performances by local musicians will be featured in the Grand Lobby.

With a summer, fall and winter market, Collier says Farmers Market Ogden offers the chance for "locals to shop local" nearly half of the year.

"We are now able to offer a full 24 weeks of Farmers Market Ogden, between the three markets," Collier said.
