Weber-Morgan Health Department makes proposed diesel regulation public

By Leia Larsen, Standard-Examiner Staff - | Aug 23, 2016

A proposed regulation for testing diesel vehicles in Weber County is now available for public review and comment.

The Weber-Morgan Health Department released a copy of proposed amendments to its Motor Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance Program on Tuesday afternoon. If approved by the health board, the change would require diesel vehicles 14,000 pounds and less to have emissions tests before they can be registered in Weber County.

The health department also issued a “notice of public hearing” for county citizens to offer comments on the proposed diesel regulation. The public can give feedback to health department officials during a hearing scheduled for 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at the Weber County Commission Chambers at 2380 Washington Boulevard, Ogden.

The public can also submit written comments to Scott Braeden, air quality program manager, via email sbraeden@co.weber.ut.us or by submitting them to the health department’s Environmental Health section at 477 23rd Street, Ogden, Utah 84401.

The proposed amendments are available on the Weber-Morgan Health Department website and on the Standard-Examiner site.
