Bumble Bee recalls thousands of tuna cans for sterilization concerns
Tuna giant Bumble Bee Foods issued a voluntary recall on just less than 32,000 cases of its chunk light tuna in an announcement shared by the Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday.
The recall announcement states that deviations in the commercial sterilization process were discovered in a routine audit at a co-pack facility used by Bumble Bee.
Bumble Bee warns the sterilization issue “could result in contamination by spoilage organisms or pathogens, which could lead to life-threatening illness if consumed,” according to the recall notice.
The company said as of Wednesday, there had not been any reported illnesses associated with the recalled products.
Affected cans of tuna were produced in February 2016 and are marked with a can code beginning with a T (example: TOA2BSCAFB) and have the following UPC labels and best by dates:

Bumble Bee advises to consumers to throw away the recalled product.
